BANK OF GHANA RECORDS STRONG POSITIVE MEDIA SENTIMENT IN AUGUST 2025

62% of media coverage positive, no negative sentiment recorded; policy rate and digital credit services dominate discussion.

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) emerged from August 2025 with overwhelmingly positive media coverage, according to the latest corporate media intelligence report. Out of 120 highlighted issues reviewed, 62 percent carried positive sentiment, while 38 percent were classified as neutral. Significantly, no negative sentiment was recorded during the period.

The report, which tracked the top 20 issues linked to the central bank, showed that policy-related discussions dominated media space. The policy rate was the most frequently highlighted issue, followed closely by foreign currency cash payments, the rollout of digital credit services, and the Bank’s gold leverage initiatives. Together, these subjects positioned the BoG as a proactive institution driving financial stability and innovation.

Positive sentiment was largely tied to policy decisions, digital finance developments, and resource-backed initiatives such as gold leverage. On the other hand, neutral sentiment stemmed from ongoing matters like the dollar pricing ban, courtesy calls with stakeholders, the Cedi@60 anniversary, and continuing pressure on the local currency.

The absence of negative coverage in August is notable, especially in a financial environment often marked by volatility. Analysts suggest that this reflects improved communication by the Bank of Ghana, as well as growing public confidence in its policy direction.

Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama emphasized the BoG’s focus on strengthening Ghana’s financial system, noting that initiatives such as digital credit services and foreign currency cash payment reforms are designed to improve accessibility, transparency, and resilience.

Overall, the findings highlight the central bank’s rising profile in public discourse, with sentiment trends indicating broad approval of its policies and initiatives during August 2025.
